Hi!
I'm Stephanie, I'm 24-years-old, I'm a Celebrity Journalist, animal lover, and Christmas fanatic... But above all, I am part of a foster family.
Six years ago, myself and my mum opened our house to children who really need it - children whose own parents are unable to look after them for one reason or another, providing them with a safe and loving home until they go back to their birth family, get adopted into an amazing new family, or move on to a long-term foster care placement.
We are 'short-term' foster carers. But the term 'short-term' probably doesn't mean as little time as you think it does - we are a pitstop in children's lives but that can be anything from one week to two years - they are here with us for as long as it takes for them to be moved into a permanent forever home.
And before you ask, yes, we do wish that we could keep every single child that has crossed through our front door. Whether they have been with us for a matter of days or years, saying 'goodbye' certainly doesn't get any easier, but that's something for a later post.
In short, I created this blog because fostering is something that is so important to me and I don't think that it is something that is spoken about enough.
I am fortunate enough to have an amazing career as a journalist that has seen me do everything from interview One Direction to jet off to Mauritius to dance with Ed Sheeran but, at the end of the day, it is the children that come into my life that have provided me with my most special, precious, and inspiring memories.
This will be a place where I can hopefully shed some light on fostering as a whole, and I'm excited to get started.
Love,
Stephanie
